HALLOWEEN SPECIAL FLAG: Detroit, Michigan

Happy Halloween everyone! Today is the day where we go in costumes and get loaded on candy.

In preparation of this event, I will post a flag that is so bad it’s scary.

Are you ready to see the flag? If you are afraid of bad flags now, then I urge you to turn away.

But if you are brave enough, then scroll down. IF YOU DARE! *evil laughter*

…okay, but seriously, scroll down.

Okay, I’ll stop stalling.

I present to you the flag..

…of Detroit, Michigan.

Yes really.

First things first, minus the seal, this looks like a flag of some 1700s Europe colony, what with the stars, the lions, the Fleur-De-Lies, and the stripes. I don’t know if they like old England or old France, but I guess they like both.

Then there’s the seal in the center of the flag. T H E C I T Y O F D E T R O I T. I really like how Michigan is displayed. I almost thought this flag was for Detroit, Kansas.

But seriously, if you look to your right, you’ll see a happy, bustling city which is famous for cars and Motown music. And on your left, you’ll see–

…oh.

Next we have two women in the center. I don’t really have any roasts for them, so we’ll just skip them.

Finally, we have a stereotypical latin motto on both sides of the seal. I am too lazy to Google Translate it, so we’ll just leave it be.

But really, what an overrated flag for an underrated city. Happy Halloween!

–BREAKING NEWS!–

I am officially abandoning the hint system to replace it with the score system!

Here’s how it works: I give ratings to flags based on things like simplicity and low color usage (or lack thereof) out of ten (or out of one for a couple). Then I will take the average score from that and give you the result.

Here’s the score for Detroit:

(just so you know, a point is added for 2/3 colors and letter usage, and 10 is bad)

SIMPLICITY10/10
MEANINGFUL SYMBOLISM7.5/10
2 OR 3 COLORS?No (1/1)
LETTERING?Yes (0/1)
DISTINCTIVE/RELATED?A bit too much distinctive (9/10)

AVERAGE SCORE: 5.5/10
