Good Flag: Circassian flag

This one’s. bit of an odd one, it isn’t frequent that I post flags that represent people rather than places, but this one counts as a place, and just keep reading to see why.

The Circassians are an ethnic group from the northwestern part of the Caucasians (i.e. Georgia/Russia) that are descendants of residents of an old nation named Circassia.

They were sadly exiled from their homeland and lived in Ottoman Empire during the Circassian genocide, but they may have rebuilt. After all, how couldn’t this flag be made?

This flag is also used as the republic flag of Adygea, a republic (a term for a region of Russia that can choose their own languages) in southwest Russia. The stars represent the 12 tribes. The three arrows represent the Adyghe Xabze, the Circassian’s moral code, which means “peace if you are my friend, war if you attack me.”

I don’t know what to say here, so here are some random Circassian facts from Wikipedia:

More than 2 million Circassians reside in Turkey, but only 54 reside in Turkmenistan.

On that note, there are 25,000 Circassians in the USA.

Circassian Flag Day is on April 25.

The Circassians refer to themselves as the Adyghe.

The Circassian tribe is located near the northeast coast of the Black sea (east of Crimea)
