Some brands are not known for their logos or slogans, but for their strange language. And while basically 0% of brands do this and I have created the world’s worst opening, I’d like to introduce you to one brand that does do this: McDonald’s.
McDonald’s, also known as Macca’s, Mickey D’s, or Heart Attack Central, is known for their menu options, which, as you may see, start with the prefix Mc. This started innocently, with McCafé and McNuggets, but eventually grew into many other food items, such as *inhale*
- McRib
- McWorld
- McChicken
- McFlurry
- McHire
- McDelivery
and much others!
Eventually, the McWords (that’s what they’re called) spread to non-food items, such as McChurchs (megachurches), McMansions (mansions built in the same style and place), and McJob (a low-paying job in which you are a cog in a corporate machine). It even spread internationally, with a Latin American literary movement being called McOndo, a pun on a fictional city named Macondo.
Sometimes, if a business grows too big, its example can be used in a joking way. Aaaaand I’ll have to end my blog right then and there because I’ve seen the word “Mc” so many times it doesn’t make sense anymore!
